Most of us have had childhoods of varying difficulties and dysfunctions. We are taught either verbally or non-verbally to "quit being a baby","deal with it", "protect the family", "be the man/woman", "handle it". So we go through life trying to push through as wave after wave of "life" keeps knocking us down. We feel that this is just how life is, and we just have to hang on until one day we realize that something has to change... The one thing that we can change is US

You have gathered up the courage to find a therapist; one who will accept you where you are at, help you feel comfortable enough to be totally transparent, and truly listen to what you have to say. This is the beginning of therapy in my office. This is the beginning of change.
